The Pakistan Cricket Board Thursday named squad for ODI and Twenty20 series against Australia.Struggling Misbah-ul-Haq has been dropped from the squad while former skipper Younis Khan has been recalled.Pakistan and Australia will start the five-match one-day international series on January 22 in Brisbane.According to the selection committee, Khurram Manzoor, Misbah-ul-Haq, Danish Kaneria, Muhammad Sami and Faisal Iqbal will be replaced by former captain Younis Khan, Fawad Alam, Shahid Afridi, Rao Iftikhar, Khalid Latif and Rana Naveed-ul-Hassan.While Muhammad Yousuf will continue to lead the side in one-day series. Younis’ resignation, following an ODI series defeat against New Zealand, came after months of reported unhappiness within the team over his leadership. He went underground immediately after, only to resurface suddenly while attending a PCB coaching course in Lahore and then turning out unimpressively on the domestic circuit. Subsequently there emerged a possibility that he may arrive in time for the ODI series.Younis had been in contention for a place in the squad following Pakistan’s disappointing batting display in the ongoing Test series, and Yousuf had requested him at the start of the tour to join the squad “as soon as possible”.Younis’ form since his absence from the national team, though, has been poor. He managed just 11 runs in two innings for Habib Bank Limited in the Quaid-E-Azam Trophy final, and just 18 in his team’s opening game of the Pentagular Cup in Karachi.Kamran Akmal, after a torrid time behind the stumps in Sydney, has been retained and so has his replacement for the Hobart Test, Sarfraz Ahmed. Fast bowlers Rao Iftikhar and Naved-ul-Hasan, who didn’t play the Tests, join the ODI squad. Batsman Khalid Latif, who has represented Pakistan in four ODIs, has also been called up.Pakistan have also announced their squad for the sole Twenty20 international; Afridi will lead the side and the batting will be boosted by the inclusion of the attacking opener Imran Nazir.

In another form, it is necessary to score the most runs and dismiss the opposition in order to win the match, which would otherwise be drawn.Before play commences, the two team captains toss a coin to decide which team shall bat or bowl first. The captain who wins the toss makes his decision on the basis of tactical considerations which may include the current and expected field and weather conditions.The key action takes place in a specially prepared area of the field (generally in the centre) that is called the pitch. At either end of the pitch, 22 yards (20 m) apart, are placed the wickets. These serve as a target for the bowling (aka fielding) side and are defended by the batting side which seeks to accumulate runs. A run is scored when the batsman has run the length of the pitch after hitting the ball with his bat, although as explained below there are many ways of scoring runs.[8] If the batsmen are not attempting to score any more runs, the ball is dead and is returned to the bowler to be bowled again.The bowling side seeks to dismiss the batsmen by various means until the batting side is all out, whereupon the side that was bowling takes its turn to bat and the side that was batting must take the field.In professional matches, there are 15 people on the field while a match is in play. Two of these are the umpires who regulate all on-field activity. Two are the batsmen, one of whom is the striker as he is facing the bowling; the other is called the non-striker. The roles of the batsmen are interchangeable as runs are scored and overs are completed. The fielding side has all 11 players on the field together. One of them is the bowler, another is the wicketkeeper and the other nine are called fielders.
